Our Rich Heritage
Founded in the serene town of Sandgate, Folkestone, Martello Lodge Number 8712 was established in the year 1976. This marked the beginning of a journey dedicated to fostering brotherhood, community service, and personal growth among its members. The lodge was named ‘Martello’ after the iconic Martello Towers, symbolizing strength and steadfastness, qualities that are deeply embedded in the lodge’s principles and activities.
Over the decades, Martello Lodge has not only been a place of meeting for its members but also a hub of vibrant social and charitable activities. Meeting five times a year, the lodge ensures that each gathering enriches the bonds between its members while contributing positively to the local community. The lodge’s active social calendar, filled with events and gatherings, continues to attract members who are passionate about community service and camaraderie.
